As existing members of the society, I am excited to give you an early tour of the new club! From Sunday the 28th, this Substack will be closed, but don’t worry, all of the existing articles will be transferred to the library of our new premises. If you are a ‘Social’ member, you will be automatically transferred to the new club and receive your email updates as usual. If you are a ‘Private’ member who has purchased an annual subscription, you will be refunded for the rest of the year. However, you are all encouraged to reapply for private membership at the new club, as this membership has additional perks. Anyway, let’s begin the tour…
THE CLUB
The Club is our new member forum where you will be able to talk to other members in the privacy and safety of our soundproofed rooms. All members will only be able to access and post in ‘General Musings’, ‘Off Topic’, and ‘Questions’. In order to access the other rooms, you must be a ‘Private’ member, which you can apply to be at the top of the page. There will be spaces to discuss film, art, and books…all the high-brow things we collectively love and enjoy. However, the whole point of a members’ club is to utilise the collective access, knowledge, and insight of said members. Therefore, you will find sections such as ‘Radio Rhubarb’ where you can request or offer items that might be useful to other members, such as work placements or a referral to get you off a particularly testing waitlist. We also have ‘The Smoking Room’ where members can share all of their insider knowledge over a Sobranie or four. Subsections such as ‘The Little Pink Book’ are for members to give the skinny on their cities - Do you need to know the best Sales Associate to get you those tweed Chanel slingbacks you’ve been looking for? The name of the maitre d’ worth charming to snag a table at your favourite restaurant every time? How about the name of the aesthetician who offers *discreet* work with minimal downtime? There will also be sections for you to ask fellow members questions about anything and everything and even a dedicated section for advice. The beauty of The Rhubarb Society is that our members stretch across all age brackets and corners of the globe, so someone should hopefully have the answer you’re looking for. And of course, there will be a room dedicated to ‘Rumours and Ramblings’. Whilst we don’t encourage nasty gossip, sometimes it can be restful for the soul to see if a rumour you’ve heard has legs or not.
THE MEMBERSHIP
On the left-hand side, members will find two options. You can apply for a Social or Private membership or log in to your existing account. Whilst logged in, you can update your profile, search for other members, or even follow them and their posts/comments. Members can also be granted badges based on their membership status or contribution to The Club.
THE MENU
Most things are better seasonal; food, outfits, men…The Seasonal Menu section of the club will be dedicated to our highly curated monthly collections, approved and vetted by Rhubarb. Whatever your present participle of choice is; reading, watching, wearing, buying, listening, throwing, screaming, crying, or consuming, The Club hopes that there will be something on the menu to satisfy this. This room is still under construction and will be ready for members to access shortly.
THE GUIDES
Need to know the best places to take your dog for a ham galette? Perhaps you have a 24-hour layover in a certain city and need to know how best to spend your time and money? The Guides are a growing section that will be dictated by our members (on request) and their pressing needs to know the best tax lawyers/surgeons/koi garden specialists. Key tags will populate down the left-hand side to make filtering for said guide easier.
THE NEWSLETTER
The Newsletter is a full archive of all previous issues of The Rhubarb Society for you to refer back to at your leisure. A handful of these will be locked for Private Members only, but the rest are free to peruse.
THE SHOP
We now have The Club Shop on site where you can buy all of your much needed club stash. All new products will be launched and available to purchase here directly. Please do be nice (and patient) to our shop manager, Iris, as she is deaf in one ear after an unfortunate champagne cork incident that took place in 1972. Private members will be the first to access new product launches.
That’s all for the tour! I’m hoping that you all take the time to look at the new club, and if you still have any further questions about the move, please feel free to put them below or email hello@therhubarbsociety.com.
With love,
Tamsin & Rhubarb
xoxo
